My name is J.P. Chapalan (CHA-pu-LAN). I’m a Latine author and screenwriter based in Los Angeles. I hold an MFA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where I was the "Fogelman–Rodriguez Fellow." I have been involved in development for numerous historical, fictional and autobiographical works. My work focuses on character-driven narratives rooted in history, identity, and social change, often exploring individuals in conflict with established power. Revels in the challenge of figuring out what makes real historical figures tick, exposing buried truths which shape the cinematic experience.
